The School District of Philadelphia's implementation of FIM helped produce a 20 percentage-point increase among 5th and 8th grade students scoring proficient and above.

Easy-to-implement.  FIM is Web-based, so there is no software for schools to install or maintain. Both PC and Mac operating systems get new modules/updates automatically. The First In Math® program places no additional load on teachers. Pre-registered teams allow students to log on and play right away, while teachers get timely feedback via easy-to-view, real-time assessment.

Complements any curriculum. Content ranging from addition to algebra ties to state, national standards for grades 1 through 9. Provides Differentiated Instruction. Open-ended, self-pacing program can be used for intervention or gifted.

Motivates students to achieve. Students want to use the program. They enjoy the interface, and can play at school or at home. Research shows that nearly 40% of site activity occurs during after-school hours. In addition, students can participate in an ongoing national competition.
